The numbers game that develops your quick-fire mental arithmetic skills! The Cards24 cards containing the numbers 1 to 10 twice (the small numbers) and 25, 50, 75 and 100 (the large cards) are shuffled and placed face down in 4 rows with the 4 larger numbers on the top row.You then choose up to 6 of the cards, depending on your chosen level of difficulty of the game. They are displayed face down - shown as The TargetWhen you have picked all your cards, a random number generator then automatically chooses a number as the Target. You then have up to 50 seconds (depending again on the level of difficulty) to use some or all of the numbers you picked together with the operations of +, , You can enter your answer either as a single mathematical expression or as a series of one-operation calculations such as 3 + 6, 9 x 5, 7 - 1 or 20 ÷ 2 to make a new number to replace the two used. Suppose you picked the numbers 9,1,2,1,8,7 and the target was 51:
The TimerAs soon as the Target is generated, a Timer will count down the time and is there for information only. You can stop it at any time or just let it count down to zero. At any time you can start to type in your answer - as an expression, or using the buttons of the Calculator - or you can ask Hattie to solve it.Your score10 points if you make the Target exactly7 points if you are within 5 of the target value 5 points if you are within 10 of the target nothing if you are off the target by more than 10! © Ron Knott GotIt1.3@ronknott.com for Count On. 18 December 2000 |
